Seora and Maggie Going to Thailand

Hi Family and Friends, I hope this letter finds all of you doing well. Life around here is busy for sure but it is good. We have watched God continue to be faithful and good to us. He reveals to us daily how much He loves us and it blows us away. I have been behind in blogging and keeping up my website but hope that this summer I will be a little more organized. Why are you smiling? I will! Part of writing this note is to tell you about our daughters. Seora and Maggie, are now 21 and 20 years old. They are graduating from High School this June. We have been home schooling them for the last 5 years and they have made remarkable progress. God has done and is doing great works in their lives. They will be going to Thailand to help with the childcare of some missionary friends of ours. Our friends’ ministry is very demanding with odd hours, so the girls will be of great help to them and the missionaries will have peace knowing their girls are being cared for and are safe when they have to go out to do street ministry. This will be a great answer to prayer for our missionary friends. They have been needing someone for sometime and so Our family decided, "Why not us?" I am sure that opportunities of ministry will come up for them to participate in as well. We know this will be a great experience in their lives. This is in part why I write this letter. We need to raise money for them to travel next month. They need living expenses + airfare. They will be gone at least 3 months. They need $3500 each for this mission trip. If want to donate to their trip, You can donate by paypal to kdcarter@mac.com -- note: S and M You can donate by participating in the chip-in on the right on my blog http://oneeggshortofadozen.blogspot.com You can send a check to Melissa Carter at 313 Harris Dr. Florence, AL 35634 Thanks so much for your help and your investing in the lives of others who are spreading the good news. We are so proud of our girls wanting to do this. My and Duane's desire is that our children grow to have servant hearts and that they spread the LOVE of Jesus across the world. That they live in the Kingdom now. To us, this means we have been successful in life. Thanks in advance for your support. Even if you can't give financially, You can pray for them. We will let you know more details as we move forward. May our Daddy-God just send overwhelming waves of Love into your life today, Duane and Melissa Carter

A Prickly Place

One of the stops on the tram was the Cactus garden. I found it to be very interesting.

I thought these Cacti looked like they had used the sock monkeys for themselves

These were very pretty and perfectly round. We have an incredible designer for a God.
These were tiny little cacti

I made sure there was nothing under me before I sat down!

Dude, Do you think mom will like the dredlocks?

These were little temple replicas out on a hillside

More of our day being Tourist in Thailand- part 2

We continued to have a great day in Thailand as tourist. Below are some more pictures of our activities at the park.

Included in our tickets was an incredible buffet, hosting Asian, Italian and European food
Of course I went for the Asian food, using my chopsticks to eat some wonderful sushi
Me, Sarah and Mikki
The Ricketts girls
Sarah and I
Jason and Sarah
I set the girls up on the rocks and got this wonderful shot
We laughed because they looked liked a mixture between the Flintstones and Beverly Hillbillies
Some Spirit houses that looked unoccupied -- well there were no gifts and drinks sitting outside them--
Instead of walking the WHOLE park, we opted for the drive through on a tram and at a pause this elephant stuck his nose in and just about got Mikki. She made a fast move over and I think it missed her.
This whole area was made out of clay pots
An interesting stone henge
A pavilion mounted up on a rock

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 Being a tourist- part1

I think I slept pretty good on Monday night but am not sure if Mikki and Sarah really did. Even though we had air in our room, they would only let you set it down to a certain degree. And every time you left the room, the air would shut off. So it would take a while to cool down again. Sarah and Mikki were early risers and always went down to the buffet for early morning coffee. I slept in as late as I could. I always went to bed after they did. On this particular morning, Jason and Sarah were picking us up and were going to be real tourist. Through Angel, who is a travel agent, they had gotten tickets for the Thai Gardens and Cultural Center. It was a first for us all so we weren't sure what to expect. The day ended up being a great day despite it being so hot. There was a cultural dance show, Elephant show, gardens, an incredible Asian Buffet, Elephant rides and so much more that we didn't get to see it all. Below are part of the pictures. I will do 2 posts since there are a lot of pictures.

Ok, I am a tourist, posing with the monkey
Elephant aerobics? See the guy in the jeans and cowboy hat? I could not understand his English at all but he did look like a cowboy.
One of the big elephants
After every performance, the elephants would come over looking for bananas
This elephant was popping balloons with a dart
This one painted this simple painting. LOVE! God was still throwing around that theme!
These elephants were playing soccer
Anna got brave and went to feed the elephant some bananas
This elephant scooped me up Of course after I paid $3 and I did not have a good grip on his tusk.
But I got my grip finally and he got his and we were ok. He was a huge elephant. I was up about 12 -15 feet. He held me till Sarah got a pic. His trunk was smooth and sorta wet. How many of you have been picked up by an elephant?
This was a cute baby elephant
Sanyaa was feeding him bananas. She loves elephants!
This woman pulled me, Sarah and Anna aside and she and her husband insisted we get our photo with her. It is the blond hair. I had forgotten about this when I went to China
These two girls sold bananas to feed the elephants
Me, Mikki and Sarah
The show was getting ready to start and I snapped this of Sarah and Mikki. It was hot and they had mist fans blowing
Lillie and Sanyaa
Pictures from the show

Demonstration of Thai boxing

Demonstration of Thai drums. I really liked this.

The best way to explain this was Thai Square Dancing
The decorated elephants carrying the warriors
One of the dancers

I had to put this clip in of the elephants dancing. It is so funny! It looks like the elephants are dancing out of duty all except one. Look at the orange one. Now he looks like he is having some fun!!!! I love it!
