Eli Before His Family

As I went through pictures of Eli over these past two years, I pulled some that best described his life before He understood who these people were that were coming to get him. These photos, I believe captures the emotions and feelings of every orphan around the world.

An Orphan Scared
An Orphan Sad
An Orphan Lost
An Orphan Hopes

Eli Waiting

I sit here on a blue metal bed
That is exactly like every one else’s here
And I wait

I wait for a day when a mommy will give me a kiss
I wait for a day when a daddy will fulfill my deepest wish
For a family to hold and cherish me
Instead of these four dark walls with peeling paint
Holding me here, shutting out the warmth of my deepest dreams

My friends wait here with me
They sit here with me on their blue metal beds
It is cold today, and it will be colder tonight
With no one to guide us through the darkness of night

I wait for a day when a mommy will give me a kiss
I wait for a day when a daddy will fulfill my deepest wish
For a family to hold and cherish me
Instead of these four dark walls with peeling paint
Holding me here, shutting out the warmth of my deepest dreams

I am waiting here
Will you come for me?
