God is in Control -May 13

Isaiah standing up holding on to a table
"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion -- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. The will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor." Isaiah 61:1-3

Hello Everybody,
A friend sent the above verses to us and Duane and I felt like God was reminding us as to our mission of why we are here. When a child is taken from being an orphan, and given a family, this is what happens. Consequences of Evil are turned to good and God renews and restores them and plants them as oaks of righteousness so He will be glorified. We are honored He has called us to this purpose. in fact, when asked by the magistrate today, because the judge will want to know, "Why are you adopting 3 Ugandan kids when you have six kids already?" We basically told him the message of this verse. God has blessed us and called us to this and we see this as our purpose in life." They said, "ok, that is good".
Sometimes this road is not easy but through it and on it, God has taught us more about Himself and who we are in HIm. He has taught us Who TRUE JOY comes from and increased our Faith.
He has shown us He will fight our battles for us. Circumstances mean nothing when He is God! He is an awesome God!

Well, Just wanted to send out an email to keep you updated on the latest.
We went into town to sign Isaiah's papers to file for the court hearing today.
John was sent to Rakai to get some last minute consent forms from isaiah's Auntie today and to get signatures for isaiah's passport applications from the governmental offices in Rakai.
Then tomorrow the application for the guardianship will be filed and we hope for a court date on Thursday.
If we do get a hearing on thursday of this week, People, god will have performed a miracle! But WE ARE EXPECTING ONE!
After that, the ruling hopefully will be written in one day, (ANOTHER EXPECTED MIRACLE) and we can file for Isaiah's passport.
Saturday is Isaiah's birthday, so wouldn't that be a great birthday present?
That he officially receive a MOMMY for his birthday? (Oh, i am about to cry) Sorry. Wouldn't that be just like God? He gives awesome gifts, that are totoally unexpected, to those He loves.
And i know He loves isaiah.
After meeting with the attorney, We went to lunch at a very good Italian restaurant, then came home and took a nap. We didn't sleep well. We stayed up late at the guest house last night after going out with the mission team from Florida to Lake Victoria to each very good whole fish fried Tilapia. We came back and goton line ecause the internet was up and IM'd our kids for some time and sent out emails pertaining to some business we needed to get done.
So... about 11:30pm we headed down the hill in the dark. We had forgotton our flashlight so Duane had a great idea to open my computer and let the light from it lead the way. We get down close to our house and all of a sudden this glorious light shines on us and this very tall dark figure appears above us as we look up and scares the hibby jibbies out of us! Especially Duane!
No, it was not the angel of the Lord but the night guard!
He has a little house raised above the land so he can see out around the compund and i actually knew he was usually there but Duane didn't! The guard about laughd his head off and said, i will help you!
so after we got over being scared, we laughed ourselves.
After talking together, we finally get to bed about 1 a.m.
Well, about 3am, we were awakened to shouts and banging and glass breaking and can't tell where it is coming from, whether it is outside or in the house. So we listen and determine it is outside across the wall in the next compound. The man is drunk and is breaking the widows and banging on their gate to let him in. Their guard or someone at the house is shouting back at him , "Who d'here? Who d'here?
Then we hear some someone scream. It settles down after a while but after this we are awake. We finally doze off and then 5 a.m. are awakened by the Muslim call to prayer. We then fall asleep and around 9am get a call from Scott saying We have to go to town and he will be there in 10 minutes. We rush and get ready.
then head into town. So that leads us to why we took a nap this afternoon.
This afternoon, i talked with the Attorney for Allenni and Andrew and he said the prime minister's office did not want the granfather to travel in as we had thought they might do and that is an answer to prayer.
but were meeting with some other people today and hopefully would issue the letter to Immigration to allow a passport to be printed Thursday for them.
So please pray!
I also talked to Mr. Flook at the US embassy and he wants me to bring all of allenni and andrew's paperwork for him to review before I get the passports. This will save us some possible delays in getting their visas.
Well, we head into town early tomorrow morning to pick up our fingerprints and to take Isaiah to his immigration medical Part one.
I better go. Thanks for your prayers!
Melissa

Bless you and your family for all the good you are doing. Your children are lucky to have you and I am sure that you are also lucky to have them.
